Program and Arrangements Committee

This committee is responsible for programming for chapter meetings, selection of speakers, educational programs and making recommendations relative to the handling of chapter programs to the chapter Board of Directors for approval.

The ideal candidate for this group has a healthy contact list of Executive IT professionals in Las Vegas and is comfortable approaching these IT executives and experts to speak at AITP events.

Time Commitment: 1-2 Hours per month

Sponsorship Committee

This committee is responsible for managing existing vendor sponsorships and serving as a resource for new vendors interested in sponsoring AITP.  It is important that vendors that have paid for chapter sponsorship feel that they are getting value from it.

The ideal candidate for this group will be familiar with the benefits of AITP sponsorship and comfortable discussing the various sponsorship levels with potential sponsors. In addition, the best candidates for this group will also be able to respond to existing sponsors in a timely manner as a liaison between the sponsor and AITP.

Time Commitment: 1-2 Hours per month

Membership Committee

This committee is responsible for new memberships. Members of this group also will seek out cost effective ways to reach out to the Las Vegas practitioner base and to educate the IT community on the benefits of AITP.

The ideal candidate for this group should be enthusiastic about AITP and also be familiar with the Las Vegas practitioner community. A great candidate for this group will feel comfortable seeking out various ways to market AITP to others.

Time Commitment: 1-2 Hours per month

Membership Renewals

This committee develops a plan for membership retention. The job of getting members to renew promptly is very important to growing the group. The monthly Chapter Roster should be used to contact members at least 30 days prior to expiration. On average 6 members are up for renewal each month.

The ideal candidate for this group will be familiar with the members in the organization. He/she should have enough time each month to contact his/her portion of the renewal list on a consistent basis. This person should be (or become) educated on current activities in the group so that he/she can communicate this to the renewing members.

Time Commitment: 1-2 Hours per month

Membership Hospitality Subcommittee

The purpose of this committee is to make new arrivals, whether they are a member or not, feel welcome at our chapter events.

The names of new members should be furnished to the hospitality chairperson by the Membership Chair. Members of the Hospitality Committee contact the new member during the week immediately preceding a monthly meeting to ensure that the member understands when and where the chapter meets.

The Hospitality Committee ensures that members of the chapter are organized as greeters at the meeting. As new members or guests arrive, the greeters introduce these new members to the chapter officers and other members.

The ideal candidate for this group is someone who is friendly and comfortable making introductions on behalf of new arrivals at our chapter events. There is very little time commitment to the group beyond meeting attendance. Therefore, it is important that the hospitality group is able to attend meetings consistently.

Time Commitment: Limited time commitment outside of chapter meeting attendance

Publicity Committee

This committee is responsible for letting the IT community know about all the great things that AITP is doing in town. Tasks will include, updating the monthly e-mail blasts, updating the meetup group information, posting our event information on Craigslist, posting our event information on Joel’s List, and ethically updating and maintaining the AITP contact list.

A great person for this group will have the ability to create the copy for our monthly communication. He/she will have a strong understanding of how AITP can leverage technology to communicate to Las Vegas IT practitioners.

Time Commitment: 2-3  Hours per month

Alliances Program

This committee is responsible for aligning our organization with other organizations in the IT industry which have synergy so we may include them in our attendance for our programs (ISACA, AIIM, ARMA, WITI, PMI, IIBA, TBAN, etc).  The committee will also provide information to members about these other IT organizations.

The ideal candidate for this program has connections with one or many of the other IT groups in town. He/she can help facilitate communication between the various groups and AITP.

Time Commitment: 1-2 Hours per month

Student Chapter Committee

This committee will facilitate the AITP student forum and support local student chapters that are interested in pursuing their own chapter activity.

With the assistance of the Board, the committee will co-ordinate the annual Las Vegas Student Forum that AITP hosts each year. This forum brings companies together with students studying IT related subjects at UNLV, CSN, and ITT. Many students have been hired as a result of the connections they made at this event.

A great candidate for this group will be interested in working with local college students. There is much interest in AITP from the campuses.  AITP needs individuals who are comfortable being a contact for the students who are interested in networking with the IT professionals at our chapter meetings. Many students feel overwhelmed at our chapter meetings, so the committee members should help the students feel more comfortable at AITP events.

Time Commitment: 1-2 Hours per month

Website Committee

This committee will be responsible for keeping the content on the AITPLV.com & AITP.org websites current.

The websites should always be up to date on planned events, their dates, and costs.  Each event should have photos taken, and then posted on the site.

The member of the month’s picture and comments should be updated each month.

Sponsor’s contact information and logos should be appropriately displayed/ updated.

New Members and renewing members should be updated each month.

The ideal candidate for this group has probably had some experience maintaining a website and has a schedule that allows him/her to update the website in a timely manner.
